Pony Bravo wrote to the media today to communicate that their lawyer, David Bravo, has sent a letter to the president of the SGAE in which they talk about Creative Commons licenses (to which their songs are covered) and about the collection of non-associated rights by the entity.
"With the election of Mr. Reixa as the new president, and following the thread of his latest statements, we hope that a new path will open for self-management of the copyright of groups that, like us, publish with free licenses, possible ”.
The problem, as his lawyer indicates, comes from the fact that the SGAE collects money from groups that are not associated, such as those who have chosen Creative Commons.
"15% of the rights collected belong to this category, so that each year SGAE would keep about 10 million euros for rights collected and not distributed. My clients, Pony Bravo, are in that situation like so many other groups that use Creative Commons licenses and want to claim the rights accrued by their works ”.
For this reason, the group asks to meet with Reixa and encourages other gangs to write letters similar to that of the lawyer David Bravo.
