The decaffeinated 'Los amos del barrio (The watch)' does not fit on the billboard

'The masters of the neighborhood' with Ben Stiller

Scene from 'Los amos del barrio'

'The owners of the neighborhood (The watch)'by Akiva Schaffer premiered in Spain on November 9, endowed with a cast that suggested a good time in the cinema, with comedic actors such as Ben Stiller, Vince Vaughn, Jonah Hill, Richard Ayoade, Rosemarie DeWitt, Nicholas Braun or Billy Crudup, among others.

The fact is that the forecast stayed at that and the result is rather disappointing in this film whose script has run from the hand of Evan Goldberg, Seth Rogen and Jared Stern; based on an argument by Jared Stern.

'Los amos del barrio (The Watch)' takes us to Glenview, Ohio, United States, planet Earth. In this seemingly quiet and safe enclave, Evan, Bob, Franklin and Jamarcus have decided to join forces to protect their community. Plus, this way they can enjoy some of the perks that come from being a “watchdog,” like drinking beer, hitting the spike and, plain and simple, behaving like uncles.

But when the Police Patrol car collides with something that leaves behind a trail of a slimy green substance and a kind of tentacle, and they also find a strange device in the shape of a bowling ball that emits an intense beam of energy, the group understands that they have encountered something much more important than a simple prowler wandering through the neighborhood.

Undoubtedly a synopsis that would have made for a hilarious comedy if it had been carried more accurately, but the reality is that 'Los amos del barrio (The watch)' he wastes the potential readings it offers and is dedicated to exploiting the gag without much success and obstinately at the mercy of his comedians. Resulting in a gray and uninspired product, easy to forget.

For all this, the stubbornness in the succession of gags, unfortunately translates into characters of minimal evolution, which are far from his best performances, especially Stiller. If you go to the cinema, dedicate yourself to other titles, which these days, there are much more interesting.
