John Lydon and the new PIL album: "I'm an accidental anarchist"

Vibrant, friendly and sweeping: this is how the previously feared leader of the Sex Pistols, John Lydon  in an interview on the occasion of the release of his tenth studio album with his post-punk band Public Image Ltd. (PiL). From Los Angeles, where he resides - «every morning I breathe the saltpeter of the sea. This is good for my health ”- the icon of the punk revolt maintains that rebellious spirit that started as Johnny Rotten in the seventies.

«I am an accidental anarchist», confesses a mature Rotten who rose to fame with the Sex Pistols with the song «Anarchy in the UK», where he sang verses as eloquent as «I am an antichrist, / I want to destroy those who happen to my side / because I want to be anarchy ». Now, in his new job, a more understanding, less angry Lydon reappears. The title of the album 'What the world needs now…'(What the world needs) reflects it. «There are three ellipsis ... is an unfinished sentence. What I want is that whoever buys the album fill in the space and finish the sentence according to their life experience. I don't know what the world needs but communication is needed, "he clarifies seriously.

Recorded at the Wincraft studio in the UK, accompanied by his regular musicians (Lu Edmonds, Bruce Smith and Scott Firth), he says that "we are good friends and that helps, because when we do a recording, we are already 'in tune'", points out. The album, whose cover has been painted by Lydon himself, will go on sale on September 4.
