«Animals»: Muse and an animated video

It was in December of last year when the British Muse launched a worldwide contest for fans to reinterpret the song «Animals»In video clip format. And here we can see the video, which was made by the Portuguese Inês Freitas and Miguel Mendes, who opted for animation to reflect the dire economic situation in their country.

According to Inês Freitas, in Portugal people “are struggling to survive; Thanks to the International Monetary Fund, we are destined to earn less and pay more taxes for years. And then you see politicians with high pensions and salaries. People who have stolen money from us and are leaving with it. They should be punished.

The last video we had seen of Muse was that of "Supremacy", a song that belongs to his latest work 'The 2nd Law', released on October 2, 2012 and produced by David Campbell, who has already worked with Radiohead, Paul McCartney, Beck and Adele. The work succeeded 2009's 'The Resistance', which went double platinum and reached Number 1 in Britain and 9 other countries. We remember that in Spain the band will perform on June 7 in Barcelona at the Lluís Companys Olympic Stadium.

Originally from Teignmouth, Devon, its members since its formation in the 90's are: Matthew Bellamy (composer, voice, guitar, keyboard and piano); Dominic Howard (drums and percussion); and Christopher Wolstenholme (electric bass, keyboards and backing vocals). In 2011 the band won their first Grammy Award, winning in the Best Rock Album category for 'The Resistance'.

The band is known for their outrageous live shows and for fusing music genres such as space rock, progressive rock, heavy metal, cult music, and electronic in their style. The interests of the leader Matthew Bellamy are the global conspiracy, the revolution, astrophysics, extraterrestrial life, ghosts, theology and the apocalypse, themes that are reflected in his lyrics.
