REM launches two MTV Unplugged concerts on Record Store Day

REM Unplugged Record Day

The 2014 edition of the expected 'Record Store Day' (Dia de las Disquerías) that is celebrated this April 19 will bring several very interesting releases, among which is the special reissue of the two acoustic concerts performed live by the American band REM on the 'MTV Unplugged' show. REM was the only group to perform twice on the iconic MTV show, the first time in 1991 and the second ten years later in 2001.

On this Record Store Day, the American group will officially release the two full acoustic concerts, and will also include 11 songs that had also been recorded, but which ultimately never aired on the show. These never-released acoustic tracks are five from 1991 and six from 2001, including tracks from 'Up' and 'Reveal', and a darker version of 'The One I Love'.

'REM - Unplugged: The Complete 1991 and 2011 Sessions' is the name with which this special edition will be launched, consisting of a collection of 4 LPs, and that although this first release will be on vinyl, on May 20 they will also be released in CD format and digital download. As part of the Record Day celebration, bassist Mike Mills is expected to sign some copies of this special edition of REM at the Bull Moose record store in Scarborough, USA.
