The Colombian Ciro Guerra has been filming, and in July his latest work, called The Travels of the Wind. Anecdotally, I came across the trailer for the film, finding something more than just a classic null proposal of Latin cinema that sometimes boasts of being "different" or rebellious to the North American classic, resorting to tools such as an outburst of intimacy in characters that little they say, or similar things.
"Los Viajes del Viento" is a film that proposes elements that I think are very typical of their nationality. Winner of the Latino Screenwriiter Lab Award at the Los Angeles Latino Film Festival, the Hubert Bals Fund Development Award at the Rotterdam Film Festival, in the Netherlands, the Project Development Award from the IBERMEDIA Program and the incentives for script development, production and post-production of the Fund for Cinematographic Development of Colombia. Therefore, it has a long internalization and externalization process, which gives it the right maturity that a script like this needs. It tells the story of a vuejo minstrel who, after the death of his wife, decides to abandon music and undertake a long journey from Sucre to La Guajira to return the accordion to his teacher. Along with him travels a young apprentice who wants to follow in his footsteps. A journey that will take you through the roots and contexts of the Vallenato tradition, where the characters will have to find their own destinies. It has been filmed on the Colombian Caribbean coast, in La Guajira, Cesar and Magdalena, and with landscapes of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta, the Sabana de El Paso, the Ciénaga de Zapatosa and the Serranía de Perijá. The film has been not only directed but also written by Ciro Guerra, and produced by Lunar city.
