Tape Kornel Mundruczo "White God" has been chosen by Hungary for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film.
This is the second chosen by a country for this award after announcing that Turkey would be represented at the Academy Awards by "Winter Sleep" by Nuri Bilge Ceylan.
And if Turkey has chosen the brand new winner of the last Palme d'Or of the Cannes film festival, Hungary has opted for the great winner of the section Uncertain regard of the same French contest.
Since the fall of communism, Hungary has not secured a single nomination for the Oscar for Best Foreign Language Film, but before that it obtained up to eight candidacies obtaining a statuette, the one of "Mephisto" in 1981.
«White god»Tells the story of Lili, a 13-year-old girl, and her dog Hagen. In a world where a new law imposes an expensive tribute for non-purebred dogs, dog shelters fill with abandoned dogs and despite Lili's love for Hagen, her father is forced to abandon him. Lili searches for Hagen by all means until she gives up, while Hagen struggles to survive and ends up in the kennel, where he joins the rest of the dogs to escape and make a revolution against humans. Lili seems to be the only one who can then end the war between them.
