Viola Beach: Your posthumous album will be released in July [VIDEO]

Viola Beach 2016

The British indie scene was shocked last February when news broke that the four members of the British group Viola Beach and their manager were tragically killed in a traffic accident in Sweden, when they were on their way to a festival where they had to perform.

Last week it was revealed that the missing group Viola Beach has recorded an unreleased album that will be released on July 29. Two singles from the next album have been released so far: 'Swings & Waterslides' and 'Boys That Sing'.

Viola Beach consisted of 20-year-old vocalist Kris Leonard, 19-year-old guitarist River Reeves, 27-year-old bassist Tomas Lowe and 19-year-old drummer Jack Dakin; The four of them were beginning their recording careers as a promise of British indie-pop.

The British quartet began their musical journey as a duo in 2013, in the town of Warrington (England), although later Reeves and Low were added to the group. The first Viola Beach concert was offered at The Cavern (Liverpool), the same venue that made the Beatles famous in the UK. Last year the group had started their tour at the Reading and Leeds festivals (England).

The families of the musicians published a statement along with the announcement of the album's release: “We are very proud of everything the boys accomplished in such a short time. Craig, Jack, Kris, River and Tom shared enormous passion, talent and dedication for their music (…) We believe that the best way to celebrate the lives of our children is to release this posthumous album. This is their legacy and we know from the bottom of our hearts that kids want the world to hear their music. This was just the beginning for them, and these nine songs were composed with the dream of being shared, listened to and, above all, enjoyed by everyone ».
