Watchmen is the film adaptation of the Hugo Watchmen Award-winning comic book limited series, written and drawn by Alan Moore and Dave Gibbons respectively. Its story takes place in 1985 and follows a group of former vigilantes as they prepare for a war between the United States and the Soviet Union.
The film, directed by Zack Snyder and starring Patrick Wilson, Jackie Earle Haley, Malin Akerman, Billy Crudup, Jeffrey Dean Morgan, Matthew Goode, Stephen McHattie and Carla Gugino, began filming in Vancouver in September 2007 and its premiere is scheduled for March 6, 2009. As with his previous movie, 300, Snyder was guided by the comic to create the storyboards; however, this time he decided not to use chroma to shoot the entire movie.
