Although three years later, we are facing a production from 2006, the French and Romanian co-production finally arrives. How I celebrated the end of the world which places us in Bucharest in 1989, the last year of the Ceausescu dictatorship. 17-year-old Eva lives with her parents and her 7-year-old brother, Lalalilu. One day at school, Eva and her boyfriend Alex - the son of a hated Communist Party official - accidentally break a bust of Ceausescu.

Alex confesses his guilt before the whole class and a disciplinary committee of the party, Eva refuses and is transferred to a reformatory. There he meets Andrei who is preparing to escape the country by swimming across the Danube. Eva decides to escape with him. Lalalilu, devastated by his sister's escape, comes to the conclusion that Ceausescu is the culprit for all his pain and the main reason for Eva's decision. So, with his friends from school, he devises a plan to kill the dictator and thus get Eva to return and start a new life in a free Romania.
