This weekend the English film will also be released "Neds", which won the Golden Shell at the last San Sebastian Festival.
"Neds" features behind the camera with Peter Mullan and in the cast with strangers Steven Robertson, Martin Bell and Marcus Nash.
"Neds" takes us to Glasgow, 1973. John McGill is about to start high school. He is an intelligent, sensitive boy, eager to learn, but nothing seems to favor him. His family is very poor and his father, whom he hates, a drunkard and a brute. The teachers are against him from the beginning, and punish him for the "sins" of his older brother, Benny. And there are the bands. The Neds, "Uneducated and Delinquent." The bad guys with guns and pimps: cheap drugs, glam rock, sex, violence and camaraderie. The local monsters and heroes. Benny's reputation protects his brother. Scared, resentful, angry, John makes a decision. If nobody wants to give it a try, fuck it! And dives into the wild life of the street. Anger and frustration take him further and further, until he is alone in front of an empty wall. There's no future. And then an unexpected and extraordinary opportunity to redeem appears.
In short, quality cinema outside of American commercial cinema.
