In the film, Jackman plays an ex-prisoner named Jean Valjean, hunted for decades by policeman Javert (Russell Crowe) after he broke his parole. And when Valjean agrees to care for Fantine's (Hathaway) young daughter Cosette, their lives change forever. The novel narrates the life of several characters during a period of twenty years, at the beginning of the XNUMXth century, during which the Napoleonic Wars take place.
