This weekend the French movie Eden to the WestDirected by Costa-Gavras and starring Riccardo Scamarcio.
According to the director himself, as in "The Odyssey", the Aegean Sea is the setting where the adventures of Elías, our protagonist, take place. In those same waters, under the same sun and the same skies as in the dawn of civilization. After countless incidents and accidents, a stopover in paradise and a stay in hell, the magical end of his journey takes place in Paris.
Paris, the city that shines in the deepest longings, in the most agitated dreams of travelers.
EDEN TO THE WEST try to recreate the path, the journey of those (who were our fathers and mothers) who cross lands, raging oceans and seas in uniforms, in search of a home.
The story of Elías is not that of Ulysses, nor is it that of Jean-Claude, nor mine. But I see myself reflected in Elías, a foreigner who is not strange to me.
