In the last decade, perhaps a little longer, Romanian cinema has made a name for itself on the international scene.

Radu Jude, with "Aferim!", he follows in the footsteps of other Romanian filmmakers who have established themselves as true masters on the festival circuit by winning the award for best director at the Berlinale 2015.

Aferim!

Ex aequo with Polish director Malgorzata Szumowska for "Body", Radu Jude wins the award for best director for "Aferim!«, A film that tells the story of Costandin, a local gendarme who is hired by a boyar named Iordache to find the whereabouts of Carfin, a gypsy slave who escaped from his property after having an affair with his wife, Sultana.
