One of the most lucid minds of the XNUMXth century, biologist Charles Darwin, will have his own biopic early next year, when it opens Creation, with Paul Bettany giving life to the man who laid the foundations for evolutionary theory.
The film takes up the discussion, very present in the United States, between science and religion, translated into heated debates that have evolutionists and creationists in the foreground. Creation is set in the days immediately after the publication of The origin of species, (A fundamental piece for understanding Darwinian thought), a time when Darwin was torn between his love for his wife, strongly religious, and his passion for science.
The script is inspired by the book Annie's Box, by Randal Keynes, a biography that has in its title the scientist's daughter, who died early and caused enormous sorrow in her father.
Jennifer Connelly, Bettany's real-life wife, will play Emma, Darwin's wife. London was the chosen setting to shoot the scenes, all under the supervision of the director Jon Amiel. Premieres January 22 U.S..
