If I tell you that directors Daniel Myrick and Eduardo Sánchez are preparing a new film, it will not sound like anything to you, but if I say that they are preparing the sequel to their mega success The Blair Witch project I'm sure you all know who I'm talking about by now.
In 1998 these two young directors circulated the legend on the Internet of a mysterious case of disappearance of some young people where it was said that there was a witch. Such was the viral effect that that film, released in 1999, and financed with a few thousand dollars, was a box office success that has not been repeated since then.
Taking advantage of the pull, the firm that owns the rights to the film made a second part entitled The Book of Shadows: The Blair Witch Project 2 which was a complete fiasco. The directors and scriptwriters of the first part had nothing to do with this second part.
Now, ten years later, the original directors are down to business and have a script to continue their story. They say they have a sensational idea about the origin of the legend and want to carry it out.
Now, it only needs the approval of Lionsgate, owner of the rights to the film, to carry it out.
Still, the directors threaten that if Lionsgate is not interested they have many other offers to produce their film.
