The Star Wars saga turns 30

The Los Angeles Convention Center today became the meeting point for thousands of people who kicked off the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the Star Wars film saga in style.

Many arrived dressed as stormtroopers covered by white armored suits, dressed as Jedi or like the other characters in the series, including Princess Leia, or the friendly android robot R2-D2. In passing and after fighting with lightsabers, they hoarded memories and figures of the Empire and other characters from the three films in the series, whose special effects marked a milestone in world cinematography.

"This is an opportunity for fans of the series to buy souvenirs and experience all they want from the world of 'Star Wars'," said John Singh, spokesman for the Lucasfilm production company, of George Lucas, the creator of the series.

According to the promoters of the event, on the first day around 20.000 tickets were sold (45 dollars for each one), it is expected that another 10.000 people will attend the festivities on the weekend that will include Monday, when the day of the fallen in the wars of this country.
