Just released in 2013, the list of Spanish cinema projects is becoming more and more extensive. Today we review those that have been communicated to the Film Academy. In total, there are 39 of Spanish productions and 29 co-productions that attest that, "despite the economic situation," the national film industry is "moving."
To titles that are in the filming phase such as 'In the end everyone dies', collective feature film directed by Javier Botet, David Galán Galindo, Roberto Pérez Toledo and Pablo Vara, sponsored by Javier Fesser (as we already mentioned); or 'Mindscape', Jorge Dorado's directorial debut starring Mark Strong and Brian Cox; new titles are now being added. This is the case of 'Nobody wants the night', the next project by Isabel Coixet, with a script by Miguel Barros, which tells the story "full of passion, dignity and greatness of two women who struggle to survive in the most inhospitable place on the planet." With this, the director will have three films on hold, the others are 'Yesterday never ends' and 'Panda eyes'.
In 2013 Jaume Balagueró will also present the continuity of his, already horror saga, 'Rec 4. Apocalypse'. For its part, Carlos Saura will bring to the big screen the creative process of Picasso's most important painting in 'El Guernica, 33 days', a co-production with France that has the script of the director himself and Elías Querejeta.
Immanol uribe, after having premiered 'Miel de Oranjas', you will immerse yourself in 'Road to Freedom', a co-production with Colombia, Mexico and Argentina that portrays the life of singer-songwriter Facundo Cabral. And it is that co-productions are just the projects that have the most budget for 2013. This is also the case of 'Cry / Fly', a Canadian production drama, with the collaboration of TVE and TV3, starring Jennifer Connelly and Cillian Murphy, under the direction of Claudia Llosa ('The scared tit').
Fiction is the genre that reigns par excellence, with 55 of the 68 productions, distributed in the following categories: 17 dramas, 16 "thrillers", 15 comedies, two horror films and as many "biopics" and science fiction, one based on real events, seven documentaries and six animation productions.
