"The Skin I Live In" is a much worse movie than "Kika"

The 18th film in Pedro Almodóvar's filmography as a director, "The Skin I Live In«, is finding harsh criticism on the net. The last one comes from the critic of El Mundo Alberto Punchini who says such beautiful things as: "the director from La Mancha has achieved what seemed impossible: to make a film much worse than "Kika"."

“With The Skin I Live In, Almodóvar has entered a leafy garden from which he has not been able to leave, trying to mix psychological melodrama, eroticism, suspense and gothic terror à la Edgar Allan Poe. The result is an impossible pastiche of cosmogonic pretensions, without head or tail”, points out the critic.

For the journalist, the film does not have a hint of the humor that has characterized the work of the Oscar winner and none of the actors seems to feel comfortable inhabiting the skin of absolutely faked characters.

For the rest, the sex scenes have been recorded with reluctance, while the dialogues are inconsequential.»

All the criticism in El Mundo. While waiting for September 2 to find out if the words of this critic are correct or not.
