The one in Sitges has been declared a festival qualified by the Hollywood Academy ahead of the Oscars.
This means that from now on the short films awarded in the Catalan competition may be eligible in the short film categories of the Academy Awards.
So that a short film can aspire to the Oscars of best fiction short film, best animated short film y best documentary short film, must have previously been awarded at a prestigious festival. To date that of Sitges it was not one of the list that the Hollywood Academy managed to take into account short jobs.
Starting with the Oscars to be held in 2015, the winners of the categories for short films in the Sitges Festival they will be eligible for the Academy Awards.
This past year the winners of the fantasy and horror film competition have been «The Landing»By Josh Taner and«hair of chien»By Nicholas Jacket, so they are two short films that could become candidates in the next edition of the Oscars, since for this edition the works for the three Oscar Awards for documentaries have already been shortlisted.
