"The Sinkholes": Simply Unnerving

The Sinkholes by Antoine Barraud

Atlantis Film Fest brings us one of those disconcerting rarities of French cinema, «The Sinkholes«.

"The Sinkholes" is the film debut of Antoine barraud and that stars Nathalie Boutefeu and Mathieu Amalric.

Mathieu Amalric, one of the most present actors in French indie cinema, plays a supporting role in favor of his co-star Nathalie Blaster.

The Sinkholes

Antoine Barraud's upcoming opera tells the story of a caver's wife alone in a house somewhere in South America, while her husband has gone down a huge cave that has just been discovered.

A film that some compare in their bewilderment to already cult films such as «First»By Shane Carruth or«Pi»By Darren Aronofski, and although it is true that they arguably have nothing to do with each other, the feeling of unease they leave on the viewer is similar.

A film that goes beyond the purely plot, working on the emotions and sustained above all by the mystery.

A film that leaves no one indifferent, and that after its end lends itself to various interpretations.
