The Beasto has decided to recover one of the most overwhelming Galician punk bands of the 80s, Viuda Gómez e Hijos, and no one better to explain the history of the group to us than Jesús Ordovas, one of the Radio 3 announcers who discovered us in his programs .
Putative Sons of British and American Punk, Widow Gomez and Sons drank from the same sources as Permanent Paralysis, Arias Knockdowns, Tenth Victim, Caligari Cabinet, Disposables, PVP, LA UVI, TNT, Satan's Joke, Camera, 091, Neurotic Code , Zoquillos, Polanski y el Ardor, Zarama, Spinal Bulb, New Religion, Total Sinister, Os Resentidos, Radio Oceano, Eskizos and hundreds of other bands that sent me their demos, on tape or on k7 to the Radio3 Pop Diary.
They sounded in This Isn't Hawaiian, along with all of them and over time they were signed by Rocky, Polanski's manager, who edited his most refined songs in La General de Fonomusic.
But, despite the fact that they made good songs, they had to compete in the market with other groups supported by more powerful labels, such as DRO, which with Siniestro Total, Os Resentidos and Aerolineas Federales managed to get the groups from Vigo to beat those from A Coruña.
Now, with the passage of time, the primal power of Viuda Gómez e Hijos can be verified, paradoxically close to that of Triángulo de Amor Bizarro, which has indeed been lucky that the Coruñeses did not have.
