THE MUMMY 3, POPCORN TRAINING

If something is characterized The Mummy saga, especially the first part, is to recover the Indiana Jones-style adventure films. The first part, The Mummy (1999), was a success because it cost 80 million dollars and raised only 155 in the USA. The second part, The Mummy Returns (2001), raised even more, a total of 202 million at a cost of 98. But, the third part, The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon EmperorDespite not being a bad movie, it has been the one that has grossed the least in the USA of all, only 102 million dollars, and it has been the one that cost the most 145 million.

But, I have to say in its favor that in the rest of the world it has been a success and it has recovered the investment for what we can expect, in a few years, a quarter.

Well, putting the figures aside, the first thing that stands out in this third part of The Mummy is that the role of Brendan Fraser's wife is no longer played by Rachel Weisz but by María Bello. And, I think Rachel is missing but it seems that the actress decided not to have nightmares about mummies again, heh, heh.

As for the script, it offers what you would expect from an American blockbuster adventure: action and great digital effects.

This time the role of the bad guy, that is, the mummy, is played by Jet Li, although he doesn't offer us many hand-to-hand fights that are his. The digital effects did not let him give a lot of kicks on the set.

For the rest, Brendan Fraser (Rick O'Coonell), plays his typical role of handsome, muscular, silly (see also Journey to the Center of the Earth or George of the jungle).

After watching the end of the movie, we might think like in the last movie of Indiana Jones, that the role of hero could be played by the son of the protagonist.
