Josh Duhamel (Alex), Julianne Hough (katy), David lyons (Tierney) and Cobie Smulders (Jo), lead the cast of 'A place to take refuge', the film based on the novel by Nicholas Sparks, with a screenplay by Dana Stevens, and directed by Lasse Hallström.

In "A place to take refuge", Katie Feldman arrives in a small seaside town called Southport, in North Carolina, with the intention of rebuilding your life in a quiet way. She rents an old cabin and gets a job as a waitress at the local café, hoping to go unnoticed. But despite the almost impenetrable emotional wall she has created to protect herself, she is drawn to the genuine caring and consideration of this tight-knit community, especially the supermarket owner Alex, who is a widower, and his two young children. Katie is starting to trust others again. Alex and his little brood teach him to relive the joys of love. But things are not as simple as they seem and his recent happiness is threatened by the secrets that continue to haunt him.

Swedish film director Lasse Hallström presents us with a caramelized story in which some things are not what they seem a priori, but we will not tell you so as not to gut the movie. 'A place to take refuge' is a simple and flat film, which will not become the film of the year, without a doubt, but which fulfills its role very well. Lasse Hallström continues like this with his line of romantic and dramatic films, as are some of his biggest hits: 'Always at your side Hachiko", "Dear John', 'Chocolat', 'Salmon fishing in Yemen', and so on.

The story of 'A place to take refuge' is not new, and we have seen it before in other films such as 'Sleeping with your enemy', although here the focus is much more of 'romantic comedy' and there it was of 'thriller'. A proposal to see as a family and with a good lot of popcorn. Entertaining and with the odd twist.
