British rock band The Cult will release on February 5, 2016 his tenth studio album, 'Hidden City', a metaphor for the "spiritual and intimate lives" of the members of the formation, as explained by the vocalist, Ian Astbury. In the note, issued by the record company Cooking Vinyl, it is explained that the album, which exudes awareness and complexity, leads the public into darkness from the first song, «Dark energy«, That we can already hear:
The new production constitutes the last installment of the trilogy made up of his previous recordings "Born Into This" (2007) and "Choice of Weapon" (2012), in which themes such as redemption and rebirth are collected. As a result of the launch of his new album, Astbury reflects that "today's gurus try to sell cures, products and ideas as if they were a new phenomenon", and points out that his role as an artist is "to respond -not react-, observe, participate and share through words and music. There is no higher authority than the heart ”, he maintains.
The vocalist has joined forces with the band's guitarist, Billy Duffy, to write the songs, while Bob Rock has been in charge of producing the album. Aside from Astbury and Duffy, The Cult is made up of John Tempesta (drums), Grant Fitzpatrick (bass) and Damon Fox (keyboard).
