Cinema loses viewers: renew or die

cinema

The Ministry of Culture has released, and already was, the final data on cinema from last year in Spain and they are not very good because last year 2008 a total of 107.813.259 spectators attended the cinema in Spain, which is 9.117.033 fewer people than they were in 2007.

Although, it should be noted that the Spanish cinema It barely lost screen share, going from 13,47% in 2007 to 13,18% last year. But it did lose a total of 1.436.204 viewers and added a total of 14.359.230.

The total number of feature films screened throughout the year was 1.652 (124 less than the previous year), 394 of them Spanish, which means eight more than in 2007.

394 Spanish films released in the same year is a complete outrage, when only 17 of them have exceeded one million euros in collection.

Total collection at the box office reached 619,29 million euros, which represents a decrease of 24,4 million with respect to 2007. Of these figures, 81,6 million correspond to Spanish cinema, five million less than in 2007.

All these data confirm that the cinema must change and go as quickly as possible to the 3-D cinema, offering news to the viewer who, if not, will prefer to stay at home watching movies without having to pay € 7 to see a movie and without having to put up with uneducated people talking and eating pipes in a movie theater.
