La Hollywood Academy has released the nine films that have passed the first cut in the category of Best Foreign Language Film.
Among those chosen there is no shortage of some of the great favorites for this year's Oscar in this category, such as the Danish «The Hunt»By Thomas Vinterberg, the Belgian film«The Broken Circle Breakdown»By Felix van Groeningen or the Italian representative«The great beauty»By Paolo Sorrentino.
Although it is surprising that others of those who started with great possibilities in this section if they were left out, as is the case of the film of the winner of two years ago Asghar Farhadi «Le Passé»That had been presented by Iran, or the option of Saudi Arabia«Wadjda«, Which seemed like he could win the Oscar in his first participation.
Neither have any of the Spanish-speaking options slipped into this shortlist of nine films, so Argentina is left out «wakolda»And the Chilean«Gloria»Which perhaps were the ones that left with the most options among Spanish-speakers. The Spanish "15 years and one day»Does not pass the cut either, something that was quite predictable.
They have passed this first cut, against all odds «Two lives»German representative,«L'image manquante»Presented by Cambodia or this year's Palestinian option«Omar«.
