'Tasting menu', a new proposal from our cinema, premiered on June 14 in the best cinemas, although previously it could be seen in the 16th Malaga Festival '. 'Tasting menu' is directed by Roger Gual and interpreted by: Jan Cornett (Mark), Claudia bassols (Raquel), Vicenta N'Dongo (Mar), Fionnula Flanagan (Countess), Stephen Rea (Walter), Marta Torné (Mina), Andrew Tarbet (Max), Togo Igawa (Isao), Santi Millán.

The script has come from the account of Roger Gual and Javier Calvo, based on an argument by Silvia González Laá, and is a dramatic comedy in which A young couple manages to reserve, a year in advance, a table in one of the best restaurants in the world located on the Costa Brava. At last the expected day arrives, but they are no longer together. The reservation has become a unique occasion as the restaurant has announced that it will close its doors forever. Faced with this situation, nothing will make them renounce this last appointment.

From Roger Gual's new, 'Tasting menu' I dare to highlight the successful technical aspect, as well as the excellent work of the cast, both national and international. Also noteworthy, the treatment of the gastronomic aspect has been very well cared for, since it has had the advice from the restaurant 'El Celler' in Can Roca and the chef Ferran AdriáThe different plots of the various characters that pass through the restaurant's last dinner, generally form a restrained and diffuse story. Many characters are part of a more general plot that is neither risky, nor is it as comical as one might expect. It is possible that both the characters and all their personal baggage, surpass the story that the film presents us, thus leaving us with what could be a magnificent 87-minute pilot chapter.

For the rest in 'Tasting menu' the resolution of some of the comical situations that are happening is missing, and that far from being the main dish on the menu, they are ingredients that at times leave you wanting to taste more, since they are not resolved with enough depth, leaving us all wanting more.

Try it, you will surely like it, especially if you liked Gual's first dish, 'smoking room (2002) ', to whose style the filmmaker remains faithful.
