Synecdoche, New York and film trailer

The magnificent Charlie kaufman makes his debut as a film director with the film «Synecdoche, New York«, A film that has not yet been released, although it was already presented at the Cannes International Film Festival last year.

It is very interesting to think of the title directly, very directly related to the plot of the film. And is that the protagonist, Caden, is a theater director who builds a replica of New York City in his own home, for his new play, while discovering that, after the start of his work, his various autonomous functions they are standing one by one. Synecdoche, or synecdoche, is a word widely used in mathematics that refers to the relationship of the whole to a part, or vice versa, that is, to a part for the whole.

In some way, it could be said that the film raises issues such as the nature of the family, the home, human relationships, as points that make up that whole in which we supposedly live, in relation to each of the parts.

The script is original by Kaufman, and Spike Jonze had first been thought of to direct it, but when he preferred the film Where the Wild Things Are to direct, Charlie Kaufman decided to take the reins of the baton.

Something I must say I look forward to, as Kaufman is one of my favorite screenwriters. For those who do not know him, the gentleman previously directed «Being John Malkovich»(You want to be John Malkovich),«Adaptation"(Known as" The Orchid Thief ") and"Eternal Sunshine of the spotless Mind" (Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind). In this last film, for those who have the original DVD, there is a section where Michel Gondry and he goes through each of the minutes of the film (their voices remain in the background and we only see the images of the film), while they talk about how they made it, about why they chose this or that element or resource, and have fun a while. It is something not to be missed, really, for anyone, like me, who loves such a film.

In "Synecdoche, New York" they participate Philip Seymour-Hoffman, Catherune Keener, Michelle Williams, Samantha Morton, Hope Davis, Emily Watson, Dianne Weist and Tom Noonan. It is currently one of the films that enter the competition at the independent film festival, which will take place in a few days. For what its premiere, I estimate, will be mid-year. Impatient, impatient for it to arrive.

And for those who understand English well, I leave here the two parts of an interview with the writer, which I think is not worth missing.
