Star Wars: Hollywood Nicotine

Some types of studies that are carried out because of their lack of meaning have always caught my attention and not only because they lack meaning, but because money and time are invested in them.

The cinema is, among many other fields, a victim of this type of study and one of the last ones carried out consisted of finding out which are the films that the "fans" watch over and over again without getting tired, to draw up a list and see who gets away the golden crown.

Among the films "that create addiction" topped the list Star Wars, 50% of those surveyed claimed to have seen the saga more than 20 times… ¿20 times? Let's do calculations:

  • Episode I: The Phantom Menace: 133 min
  • Episode II: Attack of the Clones: 136 min
  • Episode III: Revenge of the Sith: 145 min
  • Episode IV: A New Hope: 133 min
  • Episode V: The Empire Strikes Back: 124 min
  • Episode VI: Return of the Jedi: 134 min

Among the six films, it makes a total of 805 minutes that multiplied by the 20 times they say they have seen the saga (20 times at least) gives a total of 16100 minutes, or what is the same 268,33 hours or 11,18 days ... I wonder what kind of people do this kind of survey ... would that 50% of respondents be totally honest? ... For their health I hope not.

The study also revealed that men watch movies like Blade Runner, Terminator or The Godfather, while women (at least those in the study) prefer to Pretty Woman o Grease.
