«Nevando voy»: premiere and award «Miradas Madrid»

The first "Miradas Madrid" Film and Women's Festival ends, and it does so with the awards ceremony, whose highest award, -best film-, has been 'Nevando Voy', by Maitena Muruzabal and Candela Figueira.

It was not the only award given last night. The best director has fallen on Anais Barbeau-Lavallette, director of "Le Ring". Daniela wutte has won the best actress for 'The Things Between Us'. ‘The Bonate Dol '(Those Girls) has won the award for the best documentary and "The nut«, The best short film.

Special awards: «A Life of Looks», An award that recognizes the artistic trajectory of a lifetime has gone to three greats: Anna Galiena, Cecilia Bartolome and the great Mercedes Sampietro.

The festival has been a great success. Let's look at the figures: in six days more than 80 films directed by women, -and only by women-, from twelve different countries have been screened. A success for the Madrid City Council, which has been involved in supporting women as a "symbol of progress."

But the fact that it is a film festival run by women also means that it is quality cinema. Here the famous quotas do not fit, because the cinema that has been seen has a residue of good seventh art. A circumstance pointed out by the councilor Dancausa shell:

"It contributes to continuing to normalize their presence, (that of women) in the world of cinema, just as they are doing in all areas of work and art, everyday life and the public."

Paradoxically, the director is a man, Frank Toro, who has positively valued this first festival and the reception that an initiative of this type has had in Madrid. An assessment that has coincided with that of the Jury, which has highlighted the quality of the films:

"The excellent quality of the films and the diversity of views that the Official Competition Section has shown on cinema directed by women and on reality and the variety of stories that have been told about them."

An initiative that has been, in its first edition, «Snowing I go », a film that is not the first prize. It also won the best feature film, from the public, in the Meeting Point section of the SEMINCI, and also in Medina del Campo and in the Miami Underground. "I'm going snowing" opens today on billboards throughout Spain.
