Sitges 2015: Review of 'Tangerine'

Many wonder what films like 'Tangerine' are making at the Sitges Festival, but they are certainly appreciated.

And is that Sean Baker's film has nothing fantastic, much less horror, but it is a great proposal that deserves to reach our country in one way or another and in the absence of a premiere in commercial theaters, what better place than the Catalan contest to bring us such a bet.

Tangerines

The film comes direct from the Sundance Film Festival where it received rave reviews And like many films that are premiered in what is considered the best independent film competition, it is not easy for it to reach us via commercial cinema, so the Sitges Festival has made a gap in recent years for surprising films in its conception , even though they are not gender.

'Tangerine' is a dramatic comedy that chronicles the life of transsexual prostitution on the streets of Los Angeles through two excellent transvestites played by Kitana Kiki Rodriguez and Mya Taylor and one of your clients, a taxi driver of Albanian origin played by Karren Karagulian.

A direction and a frantic script and great past performances of its protagonists' laps, make the film not lose its rhythm at any time.

Rating: 7 / 10
