Sitges 2014: Review of «Horsehead» by Romain Basset

horsehead

If there is a film that represents better than any other the main motto of the 47th edition of the Sitges Festival, that's "Horsehead."

El Dreamworld in which the feverish protagonist of Romain Basset's film is immersed, it is the ideal for an edition of the Catalan contest that is inspired by dreams.

«horsehead»Tells the story of Jessica, who goes deeper and deeper into her nightmares when she returns to her mother's house after the death of her grandmother.

Romain basset It invites us to speculate on what is true in the connection between the reality of the protagonist's family and what she discovers through her dreams.

Whether or not the story that goes on in Jessica's mind, "Horsehead" makes us reflect on the family ties, emphasizing what it is like not to feel loved by your parents.

While the movie may turn out chaotic in the interpretation of the dream world, it holds the viewer's attention, largely due to its claustrophobic atmosphere.

A good job of photography and montage manages to sustain a story in which it can result very difficult to enter and with an end that takes time to arrive when everything is already sold.

Rating: 4 / 10
