Sitges 2014: Review of "That Demon Within" by Dante Lam

That demon within

As an action thiller, «That demon within"We've seen it a thousand times and as a psychological thriller, which is what it seems to be pretending to be, it is quite implausible. Mixing the two just doesn't work.

dante lam He has not known how to play his cards well with this rather tedious film that goes from one place to another without being very clear about what it is or pretends to look like.

"That Demon Within" tells the story of a troublesome cop who donates blood to an injured person to save his life, only to find out shortly after that he is the head of a cruel criminal gang.

From there, the film follows two plot lines that intermingle, on the one hand, the story of this policeman who chases the man he saved shortly before for impose your own justice, and on the other, that of the members of the band who fight to get a precious booty.

Like most action films made in Hong Kong, the film has great action scenes, which is what keeps it minimally, but a somewhat promising start is followed by a second act. too long and a disappointment that becomes eternal.

If "That Demon Within" could end up being a passable product, which would end up in oblivion immediately, a final outrageous ends up finishing off the work, making it one of the worst films of this new edition of the Sitges Festival.
