Sitges 2014: review of “The Stranger” by Guillermo Amoedo

The Stranger

From the creators of 'In the zombie cinema, we will not say the word zombie', comes' In the cinema of vampires we will talk about a strange disease. '

And it is that one of the greatest defects of «The Stranger» is that it is not sincere with itself. Undoubtedly we are looking at a vampire film no matter how much they want to sell it to us in a different way. This strange disease that is constantly talked about is an attempt to give a twist to such a hackneyed subgenre, although that is by no means enough since the film by William Amoedo he repeats each and every one of the horror film topics, no matter how much he wants to sell us a new film.

We are facing a film seen hundreds of times, so to begin with it has nothing, to which we must add that it is not internal enough, most likely due to a bad rhythm, which makes the viewer despair, since another drawback would be that it is totally predictable.

The performances leave something to be desired and a redemptive ending of the protagonist does not encourage leaving the room with a good taste in the mouth.

One tape totally expendable, and it's a shame because more than one film was expected from the creators of an interesting «A«, Seen in the Sitges Festival from 2012 and a passable «Green inferno«, Seen in the same contest last year.
