Sitges 2013: Criticism of "Prince Avalanche" by David Gordon Green

Prince Avalanche

«Prince Avalanche»Is very far from the type of cinema that is usually shown in the Sitges Festival, even so in the Catalan contest everything has a place.

David gordon green, director of funny comedies such as "Superfumados" or "The Kangaroo", brings us on this occasion a remake of the Icelandic film "Either way»By Hafsteinn Gunnar Sigurðsson, winner of the best film award at the 2011 Turin Film Festival, a dramatic comedy about how to get over problems.

The film arrives in Sitges endorsed by the award for best director received in the past Berlinale.

Unlike the original that is set in the remote north of Iceland, David Gordon Green wanted to make sense of the location of the film, for this he has chosen the burned forest of texas where more than 17 hectares were burned in 1987. The place is the most suitable to tell a story of the rebirth of two characters whose lives are radically changed.

«Prince Avalanche»Tells the life of two brothers-in-law who work together painting the lines of a little-traveled road. Little by little they become friends and support each other in the face of love problems they suffer.

A most natural story, with few pretensions and narrated in a very poetic way. Sometimes funny and sometimes just cute.
