The Japanese director Sion Sono will receive the 2015 Time Machine Award, the homage award of the Sitges Festival.

The director, a regular at this contest, will present up to three new works in this edition of the Catalonia Fantastic Film Festival, 'Tag', 'Love & Peace' and 'The Virgin Psychics'.

At 54, Sion Sono has more than thirty films Since he made his debut just over three decades ago, in 1984 with the short film 'Love Songs', his first feature film would arrive two years later, 'Otoko no hanamichi'. Although It was not until 2002 when he became internationally known, it was for the film 'Suicide Club' ('Jisatsu sâkuru').

His career was later consolidated with the film 'Love Exposure' ('Ai no mukidashi'), a film that won a multitude of awards, including the Fipresci Prize for international critics at the 2009 Berlinale. Thereafter he is a regular at the Sitges Festival, The director has presented his films 'Cold Fish' ('Tsumetai nettaigyo'), 'Guilty of Romance' ('Koi No Tsumi'), 'Himizu', 'Why Don't You Play in Hell?' ('Jigoku de naze warui?') And 'Tokyo Tribe'.

After being present in the last years of the Sitges Festival, The time has come for the contest to pay tribute to him and it does so by giving him the Time Machine, his honorary award.
