Last week the band Sigur Ros He launched 'Kveikur' (mecha), the seventh work in the discography of the Icelandic group, which apparently seems to surpass itself with respect to what was previously heard from the icons of European post rock. In 'Kveikur' you feel the Sigur Rós who keep the sound of their guitars on the edge of tension, looking for an expressive urgency that contrasts with the intimate and ambient sound of their previous work 'Valtari', from last year.
On this occasion, the Sigur Ros they set out to create a rock album that melts with electronic tension during the forty-eight minutes of its nine songs. Without a doubt, this harsher and crude sound by Sigur Rós leads you to consider this new album as the most punk album of his career.
Now, converted into a trio, after the departure of keyboardist Kjartan Sveinsson in 2012, Jónsi, Hólm and Dýrason have returned to the musical arena with a more aggressive sound than in their first two singles, 'Brennistein' and 'Ísjaki', which had not yet been revealed. In full promotion of the new album, the Sigur Rós have asked their followers to participate by sending photos, videos or comments on their different official accounts on the different social networks Twitter (using the keyword #kveikur), Vine and Instagram, so that the band later share them online.
