The CD will be released through earMUSIC on March 28 in Spain. 'Shine', which was co-produced by Anette Olzon and Johan Kronlund, is a collaboration with some of the most successful rock and pop teams in Scandinavia: Stefan Örn (composer and producer of the 2011 Eurovision Song Contest) and Johan Glossner . The album was mixed by Kronlund, Nicklas Flykt, and Ronny Lahti (known for his work with Loreen and Roxette).
"I am very excited to finally release my first solo album," said Olzon. I've been working on it for a long time. The album is very personal, with songs that I started writing in 2009, but there are also other very recent songs. The overall message of the album is that life can be very dark and full of hardships and sadness, but you can always choose to see a little light. Regarding the musical direction of the CD, Anette said: "In the end, it's a rock album, a pop rock album, maybe, or I should call it pop metal."

Olzon was fired from Nightwish in September 2012 in the middle of the North American band's tour. Since then, she has been replaced by former After Forever Floor Jansen.
