Signe Baumane's animation film «Rocks in my Pockets»Has been chosen by Latvia to be sent to the Oscars.

This is the sixth time that Latvia decides to submit film to the shortlist for the category of best foreign language film of the Hollywood Academy Awards.

If successful, it would become the first film to be at the gala among the five nominees for the Oscar in this section and also in the first animated film to be present in the category previously known as best foreign film, "Persepolis" for France came close to achieving it six years ago.

"Rocks in my Pockets" was one of the great winners of the last edition of the Karlovy Vary Festival, reaching the Fipresci Prize and a Special Mention from the Ecumenical Jury.

A great debut by Signe baumane, who has an extensive career in the world of short films and who was faced with this work for the first time as a feature film.

"Rocks in my Pockets" is a personal account of the mental diseases suffered by the women of Signe and their own crossovers with suicide and depression. Despite the seriousness of the matter, the film is entertaining, funny and vital.
