RAF: Red Army Faction

Under the direction of uli edel, counting on the performances of Martina Gedeck, Moritz Bleibtreu, Johanna Wokalek, Nadja Uhl, Jan Josef Liefers, among several others, and with a recent premiere, comes the film «RAF Red Army faction«, Whose original title is, sympathetically,«Der Baader Meinhoh Komplex«.

Una German, French, and Czech co-production, distributed by Aurum Producciones, narrates, centered on a Germany of the 70s, various attacks, terrorist threats, and atrocious fear of the internal enemy, being the reasons that the still fragile German democracy looks shaky. The radicalized sons of the Nazi generation, led by Andreas Baader (played by Moritz Bleibtreu), Ulrike Menhorf (Martina Gedeck) and Gudrun Ensslin (Johanna Wokalek) wage a violent battle against those they perceive as the new face of fascism, namely, growing American imperialism thanks to the German establishment. The sole objective of these young people is to create a more humane society, but by employing such inhuman means to obtain it, they only manage to implant a voracious terror, losing even with this, their own humanity. And as an antagonist in this story, is the one in charge of hunting them, which is the German police chief, Horst Herold (Bruno Ganz), who is not only their persecutor, but also the only one who understands this youth gathered under the title of the RAF.

A film that I believe should be part of anyone's cinematheque, except in the accumulation in the memory of what has been seen. Being that it is not only someone else's story, but it speaks, and a lot, of its own. What makes us as a world.
