"Premonition (7 days)", is it a comedy?

Premonition (7 days)

This film with the air of a psychological thriller and certain science fiction overtones remains a rather poor melodrama due to the constant incoherencies of the script and the reluctance to exploit an argument that could well have resulted in a film, at least, curious.

This is a film that is based on the operation of its own structure, very much in the style of Caught in time, El efecto mariposa or even Open your eyes. As in the aforementioned, the viewer accompanies the protagonist through a series of events in which the structure of time and reality is split and / or distorted with the consequent suspensive effect and the desire to know what is really happening. in temporal terms. The problem here is that, the moment the viewer is aware of the mechanism of the film and realizes that the character does not realize what is happening, there is a distance between the two that inevitably detracts from the interest towards what is counted. In addition, it gives the feeling that for the director Mennan Yapo it is much more important to show the references that show that something strange is happening (a message on the answering machine that is not remembered, a scar that disappears, a paper that appears in the trash can) and then cover them to resolve in a logical and forceful way each one of the conflicts derived from the main problem.

If I have to be honest, I found it much more entertaining from the moment I decided to see it as if it were a comedy since the resources used to create suspense (repetition, misunderstandings, anticipation) are very typical of comedy. It is very funny that Sandra Bullock wakes up seeing that one day her husband is alive, the other dead, the other alive ... without understanding what is happening while the others look at her as if she were totally crazy. Who knows? Maybe finally Premonition turns out to be the most subtle thriller camouflaged comedy in movie history.
