Based on the award-winning novel of the same name, Argentine filmmaker Marcelo Piñeyro returns to directing with Las Viudas de los Jueves, a highly suspenseful thriller which will premiere next week in Argentina.
For this production, Piñeyro summoned a young cast led by Leonardo Sbaraglia, Pablo Ehcarri and Gabriela Toscano. The writer Claudia Piñeiro wrote the original novel, which was a finalist and winner of the Clarín de Novela Prize in 2005, chosen by a jury made up of Portuguese Jose Saramago y Rosa Montero.
The story takes place in un quiet and safe country (a closed neighborhood) that one day dawns with three bodies floating in a pool. At first the police believe that it is a terrible accident, but some clues will be in charge of proving otherwise.
Thursday's widows premieres on September 10 in the cinemas of Argentina.
