PJ Harvey won the 2011 Mercury Prize

Finally the winner of the Mercury Prize 2011 was PJ Harvey, for his latest album 'England Shake Flight'; in this way the vocalist won the highest award for music in Great Britain. She had already obtained it at the beginning of the last decade, and in this way she becomes the first artist to win the award twice.

Since the 'Mercury' award was established in 1992 - where the winners were Primal Scream with their album 'Screamadelica' - no artist had repeated the award. «Many years have passed since I won my first 'Mercury and this award is very important.'said PJ.

The winner of the Mercury award also receives 20.000 pounds (about 25.000 euros) and the number of sales of the nominees is not taken into account. Among those who struggled to take it, were among others Adele, Anna Calvi, James Blake and Elbow.
