Paul McCartney did not reach No. 1 with 'New'

The brand new and acclaimed album of Paul McCartney, 'New'has reached number three on the UK charts, although it was expected to have reached number one, sales figures showed. This sixteenth album by the former member of the Beatles was surpassed by the new number one, 'Tribute', by English singer John Newman, and 'Lightning Bolt', by the Americans Pearl Jam.

The Daily Telegraph newspaper described the 71-year-old McCartney's latest work as "lively, melodic and occasionally fanciful." The singer worked with four producers to create work that has echoes of the infectious Beatles pop, as well as more modern influences, including hints of hip hop and electronics. At the beginning of this year, McCartney began the task of summoning producers for this new album, just as he did before when he recruited Nigel Godrich for 'Chaos and creation in the backyard' in 2005 and David Kahne for 'Memory almost full' in 2007.

One of the producers of the work was Ethan Johns, an Englishman who worked on productions of artists such as Laura Marling, Rufus Wainwright, Tom Jones and Kings of Leon; and that he is also the son of Glyn Johns, who worked with the Beatles, Who and the Rolling Stones.
