Response of the Film Academy to Montoro

Christopher Montoro

From the board of directors of the Film academy they have sent a letter to Christopher Montoro, Minister of Finance and Public Administrations, where they do not cut a hair, declaring: "You, like yogurts, have an expiration date, creativity does not."

In this way they respond to the statements made by the minister where he pointed out that one of the main problems of the cinema of our country is its quality and not the lack of subsidies, words that to the world of cinema produce pain and anguish.

In the letter they acknowledge to the minister his bitter feeling that Spanish cinema is more valued inside than outside our borders and it has not done them well.
The Academy claims responsibility for the approximately 200 films that are produced each year. As they indicate from the statement, "among them, as in all cinematographies in the world, there are bad, fair, good, very good films and even some excellent ones."

The academics say they feel reasonably satisfied and remember that Spanish cinema is highly valued outside our borders and is always present in the main international competitions.
