MIAm Matahdatah

Every time we have closer the new album of MIA, 'Matahdatah', and so that the wait does not become unbearable, it was MIA itself that has offered a preview in the form of video through Apple Music entitled 'Matahdatah Scroll 01: Broader Than A Border', released last Monday.

En 'Matahdatah Scroll 01: Broader Than A Border' MIA makes it clear to us that 'Matahdatah' will be more of a continuation of 'Matangi' than an album of new sounds. In this five-minute video shot in India and West Africa, the rapper shows us two songs, 'Warriors', from her previous LP, 'Matangi', and 'Swords', which will be part of her next album. 'Matahdatah'. The video for 'Matahdatah Scroll 01' was recorded by MIA and it shows the different dance forms of these regions, including a group of girls who make music with metal pipes simulating swords.

'Swords', MIA's new theme continues with what was featured on 'Matangi': Bass sounds, polyrhythmic beats and hypnotic choruses. MIA commented on this new topic at a press conference: «My new song 'Swords' was recorded in a temple in India, where we recorded the sound of brass to make it match the rhythm of the girls. Those girls are amazing. There are more than 10 countries to visit and I am still not sure where I am going to go now, so who knows where this project will take me ».
