MGMT, with a new album in September

MGMT

New Yorkers MGMT They have announced through their website that on September 17th they will release a self-titled album, the third of their record career, under the Columbia Records label. Recall that at the beginning of this year, the duo announced that their next work had been recorded by themselves, and not in band format, as happened with their previous album, 'Congratulations'.

The result is a powerful collection of ten compositions that reflect the surreal perspective of their day to day, among which is a cover of 'Introspection', by the 60s band Faine Jade. The album consists of ten songs: 'Alien Days', 'Cool Song No. 2', 'Mystery Disease', 'Introspection', 'Your Life Is a Lie', 'A Good Sadness', 'Astro-Mancy', 'I Love You Too, Death', 'Plenty Of Girls In the Sea' and 'An Orphan Of Fortune'. We already heard the first preview, "Alien Days."

MGMT achieved success with his first album, 'Oracular Spectacular', which contained hits such as 'Time to pretend', 'Kids', 'Weekend wars' or 'Electric feel'. In their second album, 'Congratulations', they promised not to include any catchy and danceable single, but they failed to divert attention from great songs like 'Siberian breaks'.

The duo consists of Andrew VanWyngarden (guitar and lead vocals), Ben Goldwasser (master keyboard and vocals). The band was formed in 2002 and debuted professionally in 2007 with the album Oracular Spectacular, also released by Columbia Records. In their first stage they began to experiment with various styles, such as noise rock or electronics, until they evolved to their current sound defined as "psychedelic pop".
