Marsheaux dare with Depeche Mode's lp 'A Broken Frame'

A Broken Frame DM Marsheaux

For those of you who don't know them, marsheaux is a Synthpop duo that comes from Greece, formed by Marianthi Melitsi and Sophie Sarigiannidou and since 2003, when they released their first single, 'Popcorn' -a version of the song by Gershon Kingsley-, they have not stopped growing, getting very good reviews internationally. Marsheaux, in addition to the five albums and two compilations that they have released, have also worked remixing for artists such as Moby, Depeche Mode, Sakis Rouvas, Gwen Stefani, Hurts and OMD.

It was last February when the duo Marsheaux released their fifth album, 'A Broken Frame'. For those who are - let us have - a few years already and have always been moving around the world of synthpop, they will say: "That's the title of Depeche Mode's 2nd LP"…And anything farter from the reality. Marianthi and Sophie surprised their followers by remaking the 1982 Depeche Mode LP, theme by theme, in the same order and even covering the cover of it.

Considering the level that Marsheaux showed to have when it comes to covering his favorite artists - 'Promise' by When In Rome and 'Regrets' by New Order on their 2nd lp, 'Peek A Boo' - it was not surprising that the result was positive. In fact - and this is already a personal opinion - the result is spectacular. In its day I spent Depeche Mode's 'A Broken Frame' and today I spend Marsheaux's 'A Broken Frame' in the same way. A result like this could only come out of true fans of Depeche Mode.
