'Little voices', the Colombian animated documentary written and directed by Jairo Eduardo Carrillo.

Colombian cinema is still looking for its place, and this time it brings us an animated documentary, entitled 'Little voices', written and directed by Jairo Eduardo Carrillo, that has counted in the co-direction with Oscar Andrade and in the artistic direction with Adela Manotas.

Four boys between 9 and 12 years old tell what their life was like in the Colombian interior and how the violence drove them to Bogotá. Margarita's father was kidnapped; Pepito's family was forced to leave their home; John lost a hand and a leg; Juanito went deceived to fight the jungle. While the voices compose a dark and tragic choral tale, their stories are illustrated with children's own drawings, animated with a surprising variety of techniques. Everything, moreover, without taking any other side than that of family love and the call to stop all violence; because, as one of the boys says, "any armed man inspires terror."

As we said, 'Little voices' is a new sample of how much Colombian cinema can offer us (after the celebrated 'The wasteland'), and it is because of his new techniques to tell us stories that reach us inside. On this occasion, it is the first 3-dimensional film that they have ventured to create in the country, and things have gone quite well.

Thus, 'Little voices' introduces us to the thousands of children who have suffered the reality of the armed conflict in Colombia through four children, to allow us to get an idea of how they lived and what their possibilities were. Hard but recommended for the excellent vision that is presented to us. In short, a story that I recommend, and that I already tell you that will leave you sad, powerless, outraged, and ashamed of our species. But despite this, there is a positive part, and it is the message that these children transmit to us, that after past losses and sorrows, they have gained incredible wisdom.
